Michiel ten Haken
Biomechanics, Strength and Conditioning Coach
Michiel is a Human Movement and Sport Scientist from the Netherlands specializing in biomechanics, strength and conditioning. He received his BS and MS at University Amsterdam. He has deep knowledge and experience working worldwide with elite youth footballers as well as the optimal tools to improve and develop players’ performance to their maximal potential. He has worked with Ajax Amsterdam, Chivas Guadalajara, Mamelodi Sundowns, FC Almere City, and FC ADO Den Haag.
Dr. Ashly Gillis
PT, DPT, ATC
Specializing in injury prevention and return-to-sport protocols, she has a profound passion to maximize the performance of athletes. She holds a Doctorate Degree in Physical Therapy from California State University, Sacramento and a Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training. Ashly is the founder of Athletes Edge in Truckee, California. She previously worked for six years with an amazing team of specialists at Tahoe Forest Physical Therapy. She was instrumental in developing the current ACL post-op protocols and in leading the ACL rehabilitation classes. She has worked with both individuals and teams, including collegiate teams across varied sports.

Introduction
We are tremendously excited to share this TOVO Preparation and Activation Course. Our athletes need guidance in so many areas. Physical performance is one portion of a holistic development program within the TOVO Methodology. We know you seek practical information and exercises you can use with your players immediately and this course is set up to provide you with that catalog.

Purpose
Sketching out some drills and hitting the training ground is not purposeful coaching. We want to start by creating a home base from which to depart. Once we have clarity of purpose, we can proceed to expand our knowledge and get into the details.

Knowledge
You are a movement coach. That may not be your specialized expertise, but it is a portion of what you will need to govern as a football coach. Guiding your children through a proven and productive program is of critical importance. You want to prevent injuries and to prepare your players for competition. We will give you a framework.

Preparation
In the dynamic world of football, every training session brings unique challenges.
By running athletes through a Preparation protocol, we are preventing injury and giving them the best chance to remain healthy at training. It is not a complicated process, but it is a tremendously valuable process to build into a habit.

Mobility
Time to activate.We started with Preparation.We move on now to Activation. The idea is to establish a consistent routine to support the athletes as they will take on more demanding exercises as the training session progresses. We will break this down into three main sections: Mobility, Stability, and Duel Force.

Stability
Our activation protocol continues. From Mobility we move on to Stability.Stability is more than working the central core of the body. The demands on footballers are multifaceted so we have developed a protocol that will engage the body in a manner faithful to the demands of training and a match.

Duel Force
From Mobility and Stability we move on to Duel Force. There is no doubt that football is a contact sport and our athletes must battle physically as well as intellectually. The physical dynamics around these duels is important to understand and more importantly to prepare our athletes for those demands.

Conclusion
We set out to share with you a dynamic and practical program. As mentioned, our athletes need guidance in so many areas. Physical performance is one portion of a holistic development program within the TOVO Methodology. We guided you step by step through a thoughtful process.
