Intelligent Training Copy

“All journeys to extraordinary start with learning.”

Todd Beane

We are devoted to nurturing intelligent footballers. After conducting courses with coaches worldwide we realize that all coaches seek players of great vision, precision and character. And yet, when we match our collective desire to nurture perceptive players with the reality that too many trainings do not train intelligence, we run into a challenge.

We believe that we must ask ourselves if, in fact, what we are doing on the training pitch nurtures game intelligence. We can run drills. But in the end, are our drills effective? Are our children more intelligent as a result of our intervention? These may not be comfortable questions to answer, but they are well worth asking.

As we present these online lessons, we hope that you will be open to rethinking talent development for the benefit of the children in our charge. We all want the best for these young people, that is abundantly clear. At the end of the day, if our efforts promote learning and joy we are on the right path.

TOVO vs Traditional Training

Traditional training has historically focused on helping children acquire technical skills. Coaches build drills and entire sessions around ball control elements like passing, dribbling, shooting. What if our priority is to help players manage space? What if football begins with a thought?
