You have created an ideal footballer standard. No doubt you have listed admirable qualities. We now understand the challenge before us. Your task is to set up a training program that will elicit positive behavior and allow your players to acquire both skill and knowledge.

Whether you have reflected upon them or not, you will have deeply held beliefs about talent development. Many will believe that traditional training is the most effective way to teach skills. But is it? Let’s look into a couple of ideas that many coaches believe to be fact, but may not be in the end.

In this section, we want to examine assumptions about talent development. In doing so we will dispel a couple of myths before moving on.
